Espresso Express, the coffee shop that has occupied the northeast corner of the 15th Ave NE and NE 65th St intersection for around 30 years, is closing.
We’ve just learned that a goodbye party is happening today, Saturday, July 13, from 4-7 PM. The shop’s last day of business is Monday, July 15.
Tweets from the owner’s son, Ray Barnhart:
@RavennaBlog Espresso Express is closing it's doors on Monday after nearly 30 years. Drop by 6:30am to 2pm (closed Sun) to say goodbye!

@RavennaBlog been losing money for a while and the final blow was a mysterious water leak that would've cost too much to fix.

@RavennaBlog real reason: used to be that ppl would drive to get coffee, now there's a shop on every corner and lately the surrounding area

@RavennaBlog has been boarded up to sell to developers/transit. Less foot traffic = less customers.

@RavennaBlog oh yeah for sure, there's no hard feelings about the development. My dad is good friends with Hugh.

It really is unpleasant for any owner to close down their business. We are going to miss Expresso Express and their coffee!
