This is a picture of the mayor riding away on his bicycle with a bunch of carrots:
Mayor Mike McGinn was in our neighborhood on Saturday, December 1 for a “Tour de Ravenna” and a town hall at the Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center. This picture was taken after the last stop on the tour (the Ravenna Community Garden) where he was presented with a bunch of carrots grown there.

I love this picture! Bikes change the dynamic of the riders’ relationship to place. It seems only natural that a person who rides is also interested in local food, and in creating space for those things to be accessible and safe. Go McGinn!
I like it that we have a mayor who rides a bike like a regular guy; like the Nordic countries, where their popular king rides a bike and walks the sidewalks with regular folk. I will support him again. I think he has some momentum what with getting Seattle on the road to an NBA franchaise, and that announcement on the fiber optic cable fat internet pipe is da bomb! I like his vision for Seattle, and to those who say our city is unfriendly to business, nothing could be further from the truth!
